Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

A Murder of One ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website and how we use it.

Information We Collect

We collect information in two ways: (1) information you voluntarily provide through our contact form, specifically your name, email address, topic, subject, and message; and (2) analytics data collected automatically when you visit the site, such as your approximate geographic location (derived from your IP address), device and browser type, pages visited, referring site, and on-site interactions such as scroll depth, song plays, video plays, tab switches, outbound link clicks (including social media and YouTube links), merch link clicks, promotional banner interactions, and form submission outcomes. This analytics data is aggregated and used to understand overall site usage patterns.

This site may also store limited, non-personal information directly in your browser's local or session storage, such as saved preferences or in-browser interactions (for example, remembering that you dismissed a promotional banner during your visit). This information stays on your device, is never transmitted to us or any third party, and cannot be used to identify you.

How We Use Your Information

Information submitted through our contact form is used solely to respond to your inquiry. Our contact form also collects some technical data (such as a hidden timestamp) that is used only to help filter spam submissions and is not used to identify or track you. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third party for marketing purposes.

Third-Party Services

Our contact form is processed by Formspree. When you submit a message, your name, email address, topic, subject, and message are transmitted to and stored by Formspree in accordance with their privacy policy.

Our website loads fonts from Google Fonts, which may cause your browser to send a request to Google's servers (including your IP address) when you visit. See Google's privacy policy for details.

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use our site. In addition to standard pageview tracking, we use Google Analytics to record specific on-site interactions, including scroll depth, contact form submissions and errors, merch link clicks, song plays, video plays, video modal closes, Songs/Videos tab switches, promotional banner clicks and dismissals, and outbound clicks to our social media profiles and YouTube channel. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and collects information such as your IP address, device type, browser, approximate location, and pages viewed. This data is processed by Google in accordance with their privacy policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Music players on this site are provided by SoundCloud. Interacting with those players may result in SoundCloud collecting data per their privacy policy.

Our Merch page links out to our store on Bandcamp. If you click through to make a purchase, any information you provide (such as payment and shipping details) is collected and processed directly by Bandcamp in accordance with their privacy policy. We do not receive or store your payment information.

Our Past Shows page displays an interactive map powered by the open-source Leaflet library, with map tiles served by CARTO and map data from OpenStreetMap. When the map loads, your browser sends standard request information (such as your IP address and user-agent string) to these providers to retrieve the map tiles. The map only displays public information about venues we have played and does not track your location.

Some images and other assets on this site are served from third-party content delivery networks (CDNs). When your browser loads these assets, the CDN operator may receive standard request information such as your IP address and user-agent string. These requests are used solely to deliver the requested files.

Data Retention

Contact form submissions are retained by Formspree according to their data retention policies. We do not store your personal data on our own servers.

Geographic Scope

This website is intended for visitors located in the United States. It is not directed toward residents of the European Union or European Economic Area. If you are located in the EU or EEA, please be aware that this site is not designed to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Your Rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, please reach out via our Contact page.

Children's Privacy

Our website is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
